By combining precise locating and heavy-duty locking in a single operation, the system achieves repeatability of ±0.0005 in (±0.013 mm) and can reduce machine setup times by up to 90 percent.

The system comprises a permanently or semi-permanently mounted subplate or tooling column, receiver bushings installed in the subplate, precision liners and shanks, and a fixture plate that securely holds the workpiece. The liners ensure accurate alignment, while 17-4 PH stainless steel or 4340 alloy steel shanks provide a robust anchoring mechanism for fixtures or vises. The fixture plate holds the raw material or part payload, allowing rapid swaps under 60 seconds.

Operational Advantages

One of the key advantages of the Ball Lock Mounting System is that it eliminates the need for re-indication, doing away with traditional edge-finding, dial-indicating, or zero-setting routines when swapping plates or production vises. Depending on the configuration, the system delivers clamping forces ranging from 650 lbs to 20,000 lbs, making it suitable for a wide variety of machining applications.
